In my opinion, PokerStars is the nuts. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so; PokerStars is the online home of the last three World Series of Poker Main Event champions (Chris Moneymaker, 2003, Greg Raymer, 2004, and Joseph Hachem, 2005)  If, like the aforementioned gentleman, you enjoy multi-table tournaments, PokerStars is THE place to play.

PokerStars offer more online poker tourneys (SNG and/or MTT) than any other site. While most poker rooms focus on No Limit Holdem, PokerStars offers a wide variety of events ( Omaha , Stud, etc.) Plus, they have a range of buy-ins that can fit any budget: From .10cents ($50 added NLHE) to $500 ($1,000,000 guaranteed event… yes, a million!). I’m partial to the Omaha tourneys with reasonably sized fields that are full of weak players… yum yum.

If ring games are your bag, no worries, PokerStars provides what you seek. They offer a wide selection, including: Texas Hold'em, Omaha , Omaha Hi-Lo, 7-Card stud, and 7-Card stud Hi-Lo. Their games are always well stocked (Stars ring game traffic is second only to Party Poker.) Note: Stars has one of the lowest rake structures on the net Since stars does not support rakeback, that allows them to offer you lower rake at almost all games and limits.

In short: Ya can’t go wrong with PokerStars; Cutting edge Software, Huge Player Population, Large game selection, Limits for everyone. Etc Etc Etc. PokerStars has set the bar.

Software: PokerStars’ software is fast, functional and easy to use. Plus, there’s a plethora of bells and whistles: player search, notes, games statistics/info, 4 color deck, player to player money transfers & instant hand history (just to name a few.) A recent software upgrade added resizable tables (great for multi-tabling) and customizable backgrounds/themes is another nice/new feature.

Game Selection: PokerStars offers Texas Hold'em, Omaha , Omaha Hi-Lo, 7-Card stud, and 7-Card stud Hi-Lo. They also offer Multi Table Tournaments for ALL the games. Ring game limits start at .01- .02 and go up to $100-$200. PokerStars also offers a nice variety of sit-and-go tournaments with buy ins ranging from $1 to $5000. The sit-and-go tournaments include single table, multi-table, heads-up, 6-max, and turbo. Whatever level/type of game you want to play, PokerStars can accommodate you.

Graphics:   PokerStars has a great look & feel (which, is customizable via the ‘theme’ option) Custom / uploadable avatars are a nice touch: you can upload a small image of yourself (or whatever you’d like) as your icon.

Bonuses / Promotions:  PokerStars offers very few bonuses (If there’s a flaw with this site, that’s it.) However, they’ve just revved up their frequent player program. Using FPP points (which you earn as you play) you can obtain some cool schwag and/or entries into tourneys. Visit their website to learn more about this outstanding reward system.

Traffic: PokerStars is the second largest online poker site with upwards of 20,000 players @ any given time (2 nd only to Party Poker.)  *In a recent landmark event, they dealt their 5 BILLIONTH hand

Banking: PokerStars offers deposits via: NETeller, CentralCoin, FirePay, Western Union , Visa and Mastercard. Cash outs are available via FirePay, CentralCoin, NETeller, and by check (echeck option available) *Note: They require a 48 hour waiting period before making a withdrawal, but once a request is made, PokerStars is very quick about delivering your $$$ (withdrawals will often arrive same day!)

Customer Service: Email only (very prompt)

Pros: Pretty much everything

Cons:   Limited Reloads / Bonus

Overall Rating: 9 (out of 10)
