Poker.com is a domain name that virtually guarantees success. Apparently, they hit some road blocks over the last few years, but they’re finally making strides towards becoming a major player in the online poker industry. The release of a new/independent/innovative software platform should have them on the fast track to success.

Poker.com has a lot to offer the new player. The low/micro competition is very weak; Calling stations & ATM’s rule the roost. They also offer some nice promos. Poker.com’s biggest draw is their freerolls; they host daily $100 freerolls (that are open to everyone) but the real $$$ is in their $500/$4000 freerolls offered to players who play 250 raked hands (a daily / two hour session at their Holdem tables should qualify ya for the above events.) These freerolls make Poker.com a superb option for the low/micro-limit player who wants to play an occasional multi-table tournament.

Software: Poker.com offers all the basics, including: instant hand histories, note taking and 4 color decks. An overview of the game play is easily obtained in the lobby, which displays stats such as average pot, hands player per hour, and viewed flop percentage.. Their software has a few features I haven’t seen elsewhere. Two very cool touches are: rabbit hunting & showing one ortwo cards when you fold. Lobby music is another unique touch (& IMO that is a good thing; fortunately, you can disable it if you wish. ) One missing standard is player to player $$$ transfers

Game Selection: Game selection is a weak spot: Poker.com offers only Texas Hold'em and Omaha High (though, with the progress that Poker.com is making, this should improve in the future.) Ring Games stakes range from $.02-$.04 up to $50-$100. Tournament buyins range from $1 up to $100

Graphics: The graphics are stylish and simplistic. And, once again, they offer some unique features you won’t find elsewhere. For example, there’s an animated smiley box that allows you to laugh at your opponent's suck out or wave to a newcomer at the table. Each smiley will display in a cartoon speech bubble above the respective screen name (if you don’t appreciate theses ‘touches’ you can disable them.) One VERY nice graphic feature is the option to put a ‘graphical tag’ on your opponents (marking them as Sharks, Fish, etc)

Bonuses / Promotions:   Poker.com offers a signup bonus of 100% up to $100 on initial deposits. To clear the bonus, you must earn ‘comp points’ (points are earned based on rake contributed.) Poker.com's biggest promotions are their freerolls; they offer a $500 daily depositor’s freeroll, $100 freerolls every 3 hrs, two weekly $4,000 freerolls and a $20,000 weekly freeroll, (2000 comp points required for this one.) A $50 refer-a-friend bonus is also available (you receive the bonus once your friend has deposited money and played 100 raked hands.)

Traffic: You’ll find 2000+ players at peak hours The player volume is not great but still surprisingly good, given that they are a stand alone room just starting out in the business (within the next year, I look for this # to grow tremendously)

Banking: Deposit options; VISA, MasterCard, NETeller, Citadel (US and Canada ), InstaCash, and Click2Play. Cash out options; NETeller (instant), Citadel, Click2Play.

Customer Service: Email only (very prompt)

Pros: Shark Army Events! Original software, Lots of Freerolls

Cons:   Limited Game Selection / Moderate Traffic

Overall Rating: 8 (out of 10)
